Moving From a Flat? Here's What to Prepare

Flat moves are won or lost on access. Sort these four things and the rest is straightforward.

Confirm the lift before anything else

Many Liverpool apartment blocks require the service lift to be booked, sometimes days ahead and only within set hours. Ask your building manager or concierge first, then choose your move slot around it.

Find out exactly where the van can stop

Central Liverpool has restricted loading hours on several streets and gated car parks with height limits that a van cannot enter. Identify the legal loading point and how far it is from the door — that carry distance affects the time needed.

  • Loading bay location and any booking requirement
  • Permitted loading hours on your street
  • Height restrictions on any car park entrance
  • Whether a key fob is needed for lift or door access

Prepare for stairs, just in case

Even in buildings with a lift, it pays to plan for stairs. Keep landings clear, remove door wedges and mats that trip, and dismantle bed frames and large tables the night before.
